This product is a valuable intermediate for the synthesis of many biological active compounds, e.g. anticapsin, (+)-aucantene, cis-carbapenems.1,2) Furthermore, it is used for the synthesis of the tricyclic core of platencin (an antibiotic to MRSA), DC-SIGN (useful for the treatment of HIV infection), alstoscholarine (a traditional medicine in South and Southeast Asia) and Brefeldin A (a macrolide antibiotic).3-6)
