Hydrotropes are small molecules able to enhance the solubility of hydrophobic substances in aqueous media. Their water-solubility can significantly enhance the solubility of organic solutes such as esters, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, hydrocarbons, and fats.1) 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide has been reported to enhance the solubility of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(ethyl glycidyl ether) (PEGE).2,3)
