Toepassing
Preparation of Gold(I)-Phosphine complexes
In a 20 mL screw-top vial is dissolved (SMe)2AuCl (C2719, 1.0 equiv) in CH2Cl2, and the resulting solution is cooled in an ice bath. A solution of the desired phosphine (D4501, 0.5 equiv) in CH2Cl2 is added dropwise, and the resulting solution is allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for two hours. After TLC indicats complete consumption of the starting material, the reaction solution is concentrated in vacuo to yield the desired gold(I) complexes.

Preparation of Gold(I)-NHC complexes
Ag2O (0.5 mmol) is added to a solution of the imidazolium ligand (1.0 mmol) in CH2Cl2. The suspension becomes clear after stirring 3 h at room temperature. Then a solution of Me2SAuCl (C2719, 1.0 mmol) in CH2Cl2 is added dropwise. The reaction mixture is stirred for another 4 h. Then the solution is filtered through Celite and the solvent is partially evaporated. Addition of hexane leads to the precipitation of the methiodides.
