Application
Rifabutin: a derivative of rifamycin S with anti-mycobacteria activity
Rifabutin is a derivative of rifamycin S [R0200], belonging to the class of ansamycins, with activity against mycobacteria including atypical organisms such as Mycobacterium avium and M. intracellulare, also referred to as Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC). Rifabutin inhibits DNA-dependent RNA polymerase in susceptible strains of Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis but not in mammalian cells. (The product is for research purpose only.)
