Biofilm research

Effect of tobramycin on biofilm cells in Pseudomonas aeruginosa has been reported.1,2) The bacterial cells in biofilm formed on catheter material exhibited highly resistance to the antimicrobial agent and planktonic cells were killed by the agent.1) Study using in vitro chemostat system showed also that cells in old biofilm were more resistant to tobramycin in comparison with cells in young biofilm.2)
