Application
Levosimendan: A Calcium Sensitizer
Levosimendan, a calcium sensitizer, enhances the calcium sensitivity of contractile proteins by binding to cardiac troponin C.1) In addition, levosimendan has vasodilatory effects that are achieved by stimulation of ATP-dependent potassium channels in vascular smooth muscle, and also has the potential inhibitory effect of phosphodiesterase (PDE) III.2,3) Therefore, levosimendan is used in the treatment of acute and decompensated heart failure.4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
