Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitor - Febuxostat

Febuxostat (1) is known as an inhibitor of xanthine oxidase. Xanthine oxidase is involved in the conversion of xanthine to uric acid. By inhibiting this enzyme, 1 reduces the production of uric acid.¹⁾
Recently, 1 has been reported to suppress NLR family pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome-mediated IL-1β secretion and may be applied in related research studies.²⁾
