Application
Ethosuximide: A Specific T-Type Ca2+ Channel Inhibitor
Ethosuximide is a specific T-type Ca2+ channel inhibitor, and is presumed to reduce these low threshold T-type Ca2+ currents in thalamic neurons. Ethosuximide prevents the burst activity of thalamic neurons that is required for synchronous activation of cerebral cortical cells. Meanwhile, ethosuximide does not have any effect on GABA-mediated inhibition. Ethosuximide is effective only in absence seizures, a symptom of epilepsy. (The product is for research purpose only.)
