Vatalanib Succinate: A Specific Inhibitor of VEGF Receptor Tyrosine Kinases
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is one of the major factors involved in tumor angiogenesis and has become an important target for cancer therapy. Vatalanib succinate (PTK787 /ZK 222584) is a specific inhibitor of all three VEGF receptor (VEGF-R1, VEGF-R2 and VEGF-R3) tyrosine kinases, which shows antitumor and anti-angiogenic activity in cancer cells.
