Olmesartan Medoxomil: A Prodrug of Olmesartan, a Selective AT1 Subtype Angiotensin II Receptor Antagonist
Olmesartan medoxomil (CS-866), a prodrug, is hydrolyzed to the active metabolite olmesartan [O0507] during absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Olmesartan is a selective AT1 subtype angiotensin II receptor antagonist (“sartan”). Olmesartan medoxomil is used for the treatment of hypertension. (The product is for research purpose only.)
