Description
This product can be used to stain nucleic acids following agarose gel electrophoresis.
As this product stains nucleic acids blue, no detection device is required. Unlike common nucleic acid staining reagents such as ethidium bromide it is non-mutagenic, making it very safe and easy to handle.
Directions for Use
Nucleic Acid Stain Blue is provided as a 10x concentrate. To use, dilute by mixing one part of Nucleic Acid Stain Blue with nine parts of lab-grade water (e.g. add 10 mL of 10x concentrate to 90 mL water).
In most cases, a 10 minute staining time* is adequate to visualize samples.
Once staining is complete, incubate in lab-grade water to remove unbound dye.**
Diluted Nucleic Acid Stain Blue can be used several times within a few days to a week, depending on how often it is used.
*Enough staining solution should be used to completely cover the gel.
**It is possible to decolorize more quickly by using warm water (below 60°C) and/or by frequently replacing the dye-extracted old water.
