Licochalcone A: A Bioactive Flavonoid Contained in Licorice Root
Licorice from roots of plants belonging to the genus Glycyrrhiza (Leguminosae) is an important traditional medicine with its very long history of use. Licochalcone A is a flavonoid contained in licorice root and has a variety of pharmacological effect, including anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial activities.1-3) Recently, more attention has been focused on the application of licochalcone A in cancer chemopreventive therapy. It has been reported that licochalcone A exerts significant antitumor activity in various malignant human cell lines.3-5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
