Application
N-Alkylation with 3-bromo-1-propanol and 4-chloropyrimidine derivative
Typical procedure (synthesis of (1)): A mixture of cyclopropylmethylamine (21.3 g) and 3-bromo-1-propanol (13.9 g) in THF (200 mL) was heated at 45 °C for 11 h, and then cooled to room temperature. K2CO3 was added, and the resulting mixture was filtered and the precipitate was washed with ether. The combined filtrate was evaporated to dryness and the residue was distilled to give 3-(cyclopropylmethyl)amino-1-propanol (1) (10.5 g, 84 %) as a colorless oil (bp 86 88 °C/2 mmHg).
