Application
Lluliconazole: An Optically Active Imidazole Antifungal Agent with Broad-Spectrum Activity
Lluliconazole (NND-502), an optically active imidazole antifungal agent with broad-spectrum activity, appears to inhibit ergosterol synthesis of fungi by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14 α-demethylase. Inhibition of this enzyme’s activity by lluliconazole results in decreased amounts of ergosterol, a constituent of fungal cell membranes. Especially, luliconazole inhibited growth of all filamentous fungi except zygomycetes at low concentration. In addition, luliconazole is the active R enantiomer of a chiral molecule. (The product is for research purpose only.)
