Radical Trifluoromethylation using Langlois Reagent
Sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate, which is also known as the Langlois reagent, in situ generates the trifluoromethyl radical (•CF3) to function as a trifluoromethylating reagent. For example, Sanford et al. have reported the copper-mediated trifluoromethylation of various arylboronic acids using the Langlois reagent, in which the corresponding trifluoromethylated products are obtained under mild conditions.
