Synthesis of Bis-indolyl Methane Derivatives Using PFPAT Catalyst
Khaksar et al. have reported the synthesis of bis-indolyl methane derivatives using PFPAT catalyst. According to their results, the reaction of indole or N-methyl indole with aldehydes in the presence of a catalytic amount of PFPAT proceeds in a short time at room temperature to afford the corresponding bis-indolyl methane derivatives. PFPAT is air-stable, easy to handle, and easily removed from the reaction mixture. In addition, this reaction is an environmentally benign process because of no use of potentially hazardous catalysts or additives. Therefore, this reaction offers many competitive advantages in contrast to the existing methods.
