Baeyer–Villiger Oxidation with 10-Methylacridinium as an Organocatalyst
Xu et al. have reported the Baeyer–Villiger oxidation with 10-methylacridinium as an organocatalyst. According to their results, by using 10-methylacridinium perchlorate as a catalyst, the oxidation of a variety of substituted cyclobutanones with H2O2 is achieved both with irradiation and without irradiation at elevated temperature (80 °C) to afford the corresponding lactones in excellent yields. Since this work has provided a metal-free and convenient approach, it has attracted much attention as an efficient and green process for the oxidation.
