Sertraline Hydrochloride: A Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI)

Sertraline hydrochloride is a selective serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT [S0370]) reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that has only very weak effects on norepinephrine [A0906] and dopamine [A0305] neuronal reuptake. in vitro studies have shown that sertraline has no significant affinity for adrenergic (α₁, α₂, β), cholinergic, GABA, dopaminergic, histaminergic, serotonergic (5HT_1A, 5HT_1B, 5HT₂), or benzodiazepine receptors. In addition, sertraline has minimal inhibitory effects on the major cytochrome P450 enzymes, and few drug-drug interactions of clinical significance have been documented. (The product is for research purpose only.)
