Metoprolol Tartrate: A Selective β1-Adrenoceptor Antagonist (β1-Blocker)

Metoprolol tartrate is a selective β₁-adrenoceptor antagonist (β₁-blocker) which lacks intrinsic sympathomimetic activity (ISA). Metoprolol tartrate is widely used for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension and angina pectoris. Metoprolol is metabolised by cytochrome P-450 (CYP) isoenzymes CYP2D6 in liver. Controlled release formulations of metoprolol tartrate, and combined of metoprolol tartrate and felodipine [F0814] (a selective dihydropyridine Ca²⁺ channel antagonist) have been reported. (The product is for research purpose only.)
