Application
SANT-2: A Smoothened (Smo) Receptor Antagonist
SANT-2 is a Smoothened (Smo) receptor antagonist. Smo, a Class Frizzled (Class F) G protein-coupled receptors, mediates Hedgehog (Hh) signaling that controls growth, cell fate decisions, and morphogenesis during development. There are reports that SANT-2 inhibits Smo activity and Hh signaling induced by an N-terminal fragment of sonic hedgehog (Shh). In addition, SANT-2 has been used in cancer research, as aberrant activation of the Hh signaling pathway has been implicated in a variety of cancers.
