Application
Clotrimazole: A Synthetic Imidazole Antifungal and an IKCA Inhibitor
Clotrimazole is a chemical synthetic imidazole antifungal. It has in vitro strong activity against Candida species, Trichophyton species, Microsporum species and Malassezia furfur. Besides that, clotrimazole has some in vitro activity against certain Gram-positive bacteria. Clotrimazole works to kill individual Candida or fungal cells by altering the permeability of the fungal cell wall. In additon, clotrimazole shows therapeutic effects on sickle cell disease, and etc. by inhibiting membrane intermediate-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channels (IKCa). (The product is for research purpose only.)
