Application
Safranal: The Bioactive Constituent Primarily Responsible for the Aroma of Saffron
Safranal is isolated from saffron (Crocus sativus L.), and is primarily responsible for the aroma of saffron. Saffron has been extensively used as a spice and food colorant; in folk medicine it has been reputed to be efficacious for the alleviation and treatment of ailments. 1,2) Recent research has shown that safranal has radical scavenging activity which is involved in aging processes, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and wound healing activity. And moreover, safranal have been reported to inhibit cell growth of human tumor cells. 3-5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
