TCI Materials Science News
July 2023
TCI is at the forefront of offering high-quality materials for R&D. This issue covers our materials science topics as follows:
- Lithium-Based Electrode Materials
- For Secondary Battery Anode Use, Carbon Coated SiO/Mg Composite Material
- Electrolyte Additives for Secondary Batteries: Tris(trialkylsilyl) Phosphates
- Phosphate Ester-type Electrolyte Additives

Lithium-Based Electrode Materials
TCI offers many lithium metal oxides such as lithium cobalt(III) oxide [L0384], lithium nickel oxide [L0394], lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (LiNi0.33Mn0.33Co0.33O2) [L0388], etc. You can also find lithium metal phosphates such as lithium iron(II) phosphate [L0386], lithium manganese(II) phosphate [L0390], lithium cobalt(II) phosphate [L0407], lithium nickel(II) phosphate [L0402] and lithium vanadium phosphate [L0417].
For Secondary Battery Anode Use, Carbon Coated SiO/Mg Composite Material
Carbon coated Silicon Monooxide/Magnesium composite material [C3864] is a microparticle with particle size ≤10.0 μm and specific surface area ≥2.0 m2/g. C3864 mainly consists of silicon monooxide/magnesium (SiO/Mg) with higher capacity than silicon monooxide (SiO), and it can be used as a battery anode material.
Electrolyte Additives for Secondary Batteries: Tris(trialkylsilyl) Phosphates
Tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphate [P1248] has been reported to be used as an additive for lithium-ion batteries. It possesses features such as; forming an artificial solid electrolyte interface (SEI) layer, reducing an interface impedance, protecting an electrode material from eroding by hydrogen fluoride, enhancing initial discharge capacity, and improving cyclic stability and capacity retention. TCI also offers tris(triethylsilyl) phosphate [T4111] and tris(tert-butyldimethylsilyl) phosphate [T4119] as the analogues.
