Application
Norlidocaine (monoethylglycinexylidide: MEGX): A Main Active Metabolite of Lidocaine

Norlidocaine (monoethylglycinexylidide: MEGX) is a main active metabolite of lidocaine [L0156] formed by oxidative N-deethylation catalyzed by CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 in the liver, and its formation depends on liver microsomal activity. Therefore, the dynamic liver function test based on the hepatic conversion of lidocaine to MEGX (called MEGX test) has been used as a tool for the real-time assessment of hepatic function.
