Siramesine: A σ2 Opioid Receptor Agonist
Siramesine (Lu 28-179) is a σ2 opioid receptor agonist and was first developed as an agent for the treatment of anxiety.1) It was well tolerated and non-toxic in humans but the effect was not satisfactory.2) However, after the development stopped, it has been reported that siramesine induces the death of cancer cells in vitro by destabilizing lysosomes.3-6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
