Chicoric Acid: A Phenylpropanoid with a Variety of Biological Effects including Anti-HIV Activity
Chicoric acid is a phenylpropanoid found in a number of plants, such as chicory (Cichorium intybus) and Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea), and reportedly has a variety of biological functions, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and analgesic activities, and antihyperglycemic effect.1-3) Recently, chicoric acid and its analogs are attracting attention to their anti-HIV activity as HIV-1 integrase inhibitors.4,5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
