Application
Duloxetine Hydrochloride: A Selective Serotonin and Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor (SNRI)
Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine [S0370] or 5-HT) and norepinephrine [A0906] are implicated in modulating descending inhibitory pain pathways in the central nervous system. Duloxetine hydrochloride is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) and lacks affinity for monoamine receptors within the central nervous system. Duloxetine hydrochloride is mainly used for the treatment of depression. Although the exact mechanisms of the antidepressant are unknown, these actions are believed to be related to its potentiation of serotonergic and norepinephrinergic activity in the central nervous system.
There are other SNRIs as; (S)-citalopram oxalate [E0958], citalopram hydrobromide [C2370], fluoxetine hydrochloride [F0750], fluvoxamine maleate [F0858], milnacipran hydrochloride [M2133], paroxetine hydrochloride [P1977], sertraline hydrochloride [S0507] and venlafaxine hydrochloride [V0110]. (The product is for research purpose only.)
