Application
8-Hydroxyguanosine (8-Oxo-G): A Biomarker for DNA/RNA Oxidative Stress and Carcinogenesis
8-Hydroxyguanosine (8-oxoguanosine or 8-Oxo-G) is one of the predominant forms of free radical-induced oxidative damage to RNA and can lead to mismatched pairing with adenine, resulting in G to T and C to A substitutions in the genome, and 8-Oxo-G accumulation is associated with many neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.1-3) It is primarily repaired by 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase-1 (OGG1).1,4) Therefore, it has been widely used as a biomarker for DNA/RNA oxidative stress and carcinogenesis.5,6)
