Application
Khellin: A Mild Photosensitizer
Khellin, a naturally occurring furochromone, has a chemical structure similar to a photosensitizing agent psoralen [P2077] which has been reported to be an efficient agent for treating vitiligo and psoriasis when combined with UVA irradiation. Khellin has been reported to have phototherapeutic properties that are similar to those of the psoralens, but with substantially lower phototoxic effects and DNA mutation effects. As opposed to psoralens, khellin did not induce skin phototoxicity with UVA but it induced repigmentation similar to psoralens. (The product is for research purpose only.)
