Application
3β-Hydroxy-5α-pregnan-20-one: An Endogenous Neuroactive Steroid
3β-Hydroxy-5α-pregnan-20-one (or isopregnanolone) and its stereoisomer, 5β-pregnan-3α-ol-20-one [P3084] are metabolites of the ovarian/adrenal steroid progesterone [P0478].1) These metabolites are endogenous neuroactive steroids that act as a positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of γ-aminobutyric acid A (GABAA) receptors with anesthetic, anxiolytic, and anti-convulsant effects.2,3) (The product is for research purpose only.)
