Application
Glycyrrhizin: The Major Triterpenoid Saponin of Licorice Root
Glycyrrhizin (or glycyrrhizin acid) is the major triterpenoid saponin of licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)1,2) which have long been widely used as a natural sweetener (an agonist of the human sweet taste receptor)3) and a herbal medicine. It has been reported that glycyrrhizin possess a wide range of pharmacological properties, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, anti-allergic, anti-dote, anti-oxidant, anti-tumor, anti-viral etc.4-6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
