When Coomassie brilliant blue G-250 (CBB G-250) binds to a protein, its maximum absorption wavelength shifts from 465 nm to 595 nm. When this principle is taken advantage of to measure protein concentration, it is referred to as the Bradford method.1) The Bradford method is advantageous when attempting to measure the concentration of proteins over 1 µg/mL, as the ratio of sample to CBB G-250 solution can be adjusted.2) Bradford assay solution is suitable for protein quantification via the Bradford method and is less affected by the presence of reducing agents and chelating agents. As a ready-to-use solution it also allows for results to be obtained in only 5 minutes.
