Application
Condensing Agent
Experimental procedure1): To a solution of 3-phenylpropionic Acid (1.0 eq.), tert-butyl alcohol (1.0 eq.), and DMC (1.0 eq.) in dichloromethane is added dropwise pyridine (2.0 eq.) at room temperature. The mixture is stirred for 20 h at room temperature, poured into water, and extracted with dichloromethane. The organic solution is successively washed with 5% HCl, aqueous saturated NaHCO3, and water. It is dried (MgSO4) and evaporated to dryness. The residue is purified by silica gel column chromatography to give 1 in 91% yield.
