Application
β-Estradiol 17-Heptanoate: A Long-Acting Fatty Acid Ester of β-Estradiol

Free β-estradiol [E0025] is the primary female sex hormone, an estrogen. β-Estradiol 17-heptanoate, a synthetic fatty acid esters, is a long-acting β-estradiol. Compared with free β-estradiol, β-estradiol fatty acid esters are metabolized more slowly and thereby have more potent estrogenic properties. In theory, β-estradiol fatty acid esters could function as a storage form of estradiol in tissues and be hydrolyzed to free hormone when needed.
