Application
N-Butylthiophosphoric Triamide: A Urease Inhibitor

N-Butylthiophosphoric triamide (NBPT or nBTPT) is a urease inhibitor. Urea is the most widely used form of N fertilizer. Urease, an enzyme, is produced by many soil microorganisms and plants, and catalyzes the hydrolysis of urea, forming ammonia and carbon dioxide. Therefore, urease inhibitors possess a wide application in agriculture and understanding of enzyme kinetics.
