Application
Tetrahydrocurcumin: An Antioxidative Major Metabolite of Curcumin
Tetrahydrocurcumin (THC) is a major metabolite of curcumin [C0434, C2302] that lacks the α, β-unsaturated carbonyl moiety and occurs naturally in turmeric.1) The interest in THC research has recently increased due to its superiority over curcumin in water solubility, chemical stability, bioavailability, and antioxidant activity. Many studies have indicated that THC exhibits higher antioxidant activity, but curcumin appears to bind to and modulate the activities of a wide variety of targets.2-4) Therefore, THC is expected to act as a chemo-preventative agent. (The product is for research purpose only.)
