Application
Ketanserin: A Selective 5-HT2a Receptor Antagonist with Weak α1-Adrenoceptor Antagonistic Activity
Ketanserin is a selective 5-HT2a receptor antagonist. 5-HT receptors can be divided into some receptor subtypes. Ketanserin is used for discrimination between 5-HT receptor subtypes. Ketanserin also has weak α1-adrenoceptor antagonistic activity which may explain its antihypertensive mechanism of action. Ketanserin inhibits the effects of serotonin on platelets, and inhibits vasoconstriction caused by the catecholamine. (The product is for research purpose only.)
