Application
A More Potent Proton Pump Inhibitor, Rabeprazole Sodium
Rabeprazole sodium is a new substituted benzimidazole proton pump inhibitor with several differences compared with existing proton pump inhibitors. Rabeprazole sodium is a more potent inhibitor of H+,K+-ATPase (hydrogen-potassium adenosine triphosphatase) and acid secretion than omeprazole [O0359], and is a more rapid inhibitor of proton pumps than omeprazole, lansoprazole [L0233], or pantoprazole sulfide [P2066]. Furthermore, in vitro studies have shown that rabeprazole sodium possesses more potent antibacterial properties against the growth of H. pylori than other proton pump inhibitors.
