Application
Reusable Amphiphilic Polymer-assembled Pd Complex Catalyst
Typical procedure : Recycling of Pd complex catalyst for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction.
(X = I, R1 = R3 = H) : A mixture of phenyl iodide (4.59 g, 22.5 mmol), phenylboronic acid (3.00 g, 24.8 mmol), and Na2CO3 (2.65 g, 25.0 mmol) in water (75 mL) is degassed by ultrasonication for 30 min. To the solution is added amphiphilic polymer-assembled Pd complex catalyst (3.40 mg, 5.0 x 10-3 mol%), and the resulting suspension is stirred at 100 °C for 24 h. After the reaction, the mixture is filtered with hot water, the glass filter is washed with hot water. At that time, the Pd complex catalyst is recovered on the filter. The filtrate is cooled to room temperature to afford crystals. It is isolated on the filter and dried in vacuo to give biphenyl. The recovered Pd complex catalyst is dried in vacuo and reused.
