Application
2'-Deoxy-4-Thiouridine: A Photoactive Nucleoside Analog
4–thionucleosides, containing 2'-deoxy-4-thiouridine, are photoactive nucleoside analogs, and absorb light at wavelengths around 340 nm and, thus, can be selectively photo-activated.1,2) They exhibit a high photocrosslinking ability towards pyrimidine bases (particularly thymine) but also purine bases. In fact, oligonucleotides containing 2'-deoxy-4-thiouridine has been used for photocrosslinking studies of oligonucleotides.3,4) In addition, 2'-deoxy-4-thiouridine exhibits an anti-[herpes simplex virus (HSV)] activity,5) and is used for a post-synthetic modification of oligonucleotides through oxidative amination of 2'-deoxy-4-thiouridine, converting it on oligonucleotides into deoxycytidine derivates.6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
