Apramycin Sulfate: A Broad-Spectrum Aminoglycoside Antibiotic against Multidrug-Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria
Apramycin sulfate is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic first isolated from Streptomyces tenebrarius.1) As an aminoglycoside antibiotic apramycin binds to the bacterial ribosomal site and interferes with the bacterial protein synthesis. The overall spectrum includes many aerobic or facultative anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria, including multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and Acinetobacter baumannii.2,3) Apramycin sulfate is mainly used as a veterinary medicine.4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
