Diisopropyl Phosphite

Typical procedure (R=H, R¹=R²=R³=Et): Quinoline-N-oxide (145 mg, 1.0 mmol), triethylamine (304 mg, 3.0 mmol), diisopropyl phosphite (332 mg, 2.0 mmol) and CCl₄ (0.5 mL) in THF (15 mL) is stirred at room temperature for 8 h. The solvent is evaporated under vacuum, and the residue is quenched with water (5 mL), extracted with ethyl acetate (3 × 5 mL). The combined organic layers are washed with brine (15 mL) and dried over Na₂SO₄. After filtration, the solvent is evaporated in vacuo. The crude product is purified by silica gel column chromatography (petroleum ether: ethyl acetate = 10:1) to give N, N-diethylquinolin-2-amine (143 mg, 83%) as a yellow oil.
