Ugi Four-component Reaction
The Ugi reaction is a powerful four-component reaction which affords α-acylaminocarboxamides from the combination of aldehydes or ketones, primary amines, isocyanates and carboxylic acids. This reaction is highly versatile and efficient and only proceeds when all of the components have been combined. Furthermore, the Ugi reaction is utilized as a key reaction in total synthesis and construction of a compound libraries in medicinal chemistry due to the ease of operation (one pot) and furnishing complex carbon skeletons.
