Trihexyphenidyl Hydrochloride: A M1 Muscarinic Cholinergic Receptor Antagonist
Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride is a M1 muscarinic cholinergic receptor antagonist, and is used for the treatment of parkinsonian syndrome. The exact mechanism of action in parkinsonian syndromes is not precisely understood, but it is known that trihexyphenidyl has a direct anti-spasmodic effect on smooth muscles and a control effect on extrapyramidal disorders which may be caused by certain drugs acting on the central nervous system.
