Application
Theaflavin: A Flavonoid with Diverse Biological Activities
Theaflavin is a flavonoid found in black tea that obtained by enzymatic oxidation during the fermentation process of tea leaves. It has been reported that theaflavin has diverse biological activities, including antioxidant, anticancer, and antiviral activities.1-3) In 2020, some studies have reported that theaflavin may be effective in suppressing the growth of SARS-CoV-2.4,5) In these reports, theaflavin has the potential to bind to RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, and to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 viral growth and activity. (The product is for research purpose only.)
