Application
Sulfadiazine, an inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthase
Sulfadiazine is one of the sulfonamides and has an anti-bacterial effect. It inhibits dihydropteroate synthase of bacteria, protozoa and fungi resulting in inhibition of DNA or RNA synthesis of bacteria and other microbes. It also shows anti-toxoplasma effect by using together with pyrimethamine [P2037]. The mammals including human do not have this part of folate synthetic system, so that it is considered to be non-effective for them. (The product is for research purpose only.)
