Application
PIPER: A Potent Telomerase Inhibitor
PIPER is a potent telomerase inhibitor used in cancer research. It inhibits human telomerase by binding to G-quadruplex DNA. Cancer cells evade replicative senescence by re-expressing telomerase, which maintains telomere length and thus chromosomal integrity. Therefore, inhibiting telomerase would cause cancer cells to senesce and thus prevent cancer cells from growing indefinitely. (The product is for research use only.)
