Application
Pheniramine Maleate: A Histamine H1-Receptor Antagonist

Pheniramine maleate, a first generation antihistamine, is a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. It appears to compete with histamine for histamine H1-receptor sites on effector cells, and thereby reduce the intensity of allergic reactions and tissue injury response involving histamine release. It also has anticholinergic and moderate sedative effects. On the other hand, pheniramine has been reported it as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in hydrochloric acid solution.
