Application
Triflusal: An Antiplatelet Aggregation Agent
Triflusal is an antiplatelet aggregation agent having a trifluoromethyl group at the 4-position. It is metabolized to 2-hydroxy-4-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid (HTB) which inhibits cyclogxygenase-1 (COX-1) in platelets. Furthermore, both triflusal and HTB are also able to increase cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) [A2381] levels in platelets through inhibition of platelet phosphodiesterases which regulate intracellular cAMP levels. Moreover, triflusal enhances the production of NO by neutrophils via stimulation of the constitutive activity of nitric oxide (NO) synthase (cNOS). It is considered that triflusal shows the antiplatelet aggregation activity by these actions. (The product is for research purpose only.)
