Application
A Novel Hydroxy Protecting Group: Sulfonylcarbamate Group
Typical Procedure:
[Protection of Hydroxy Groups]
To a solution of alcohol (1.0 mmol) in THF (5 mL), p-toluenesulfonyl isocyanate (1.1 mmol) is added at room temperature. The mixture is stirred under N2 atmosphere. After the starting material has disappeared by TLC analysis, (the mixture is extracted with EtOAc, and) the solvent is evaporated. The residue is purified by silica gel column chromatography to afford the product.
[Removal of the Protecting Group by Pyridine―MeOH]
A solution of sulfonylcarbamate (100 mg) in pyridine―MeOH (7 : 3, 5 mL) is stirred at 50 °C until the starting material is consumed. After evaporation, the residue is purified by silica gel column chromatography.
